Once a year, we creatives, designers and color junkies get particularly tense. Namely when the Trend Color of the Year is announced by the well-known PANTONE Color Institute. The choice of the color messiah has evolved from a micro-trend to one of the most important references in the creative world. In addition to fashion, the color has also set the tone in interior design.

This year, Mocha Mousse with the reference number TCX 17-1230 has won the race.

After butter, milk and coffee, Pantone confirms the importance of tasteful nuances. Mocha Mousse gets its creamy essence from an Italian drink, the Mocaccino. The latter is a blend of espresso, cream, chocolate and cocoa powder and not only looks good on our palate, but also dips our look and our home in its irresistible allure. Mocha Mousse stands for *elegance as well as simplicity and naturalness *and is irresistibly homely, especially when playing with its nuances.

Mocha Mousse is a feel-good color. Like a cup of mochaccino, its notes of caramel, milk, glazed chestnut and a hint of blackberry are like a warming balm for the eyes and soul. This effect is particularly effective when one or more walls in a room are painted in this soft shade. Great colors are available from Libéron, V33 or my favorite label Farrow & Ball.

Sitting on mocha mousse? Oh yes! Because the new trend color looks particularly inviting and warm on upholstered furniture, i.e. on armchairs and sofas. The shade looks really beautiful on the new velvet and bouclé fabrics, but also on sheepskin. But wooden chairs in a mocha shade, such as the Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegener, also bring more coziness into your home than their Nordic-inspired light-colored siblings. In my story about Brücke 49 in Vals, one of the most beautiful mountain retreats, I also noticed the great chair with the combination of velvety brown upholstery and softly stained wood. In my opinion, the most beautiful models are available from Audo and Gubi - and in the more affordable range from HK Living and Pols Potten.

Even if the decorative cushion looks good in the trend color and especially in shades of it - much newer and more expressive is the wall decoration in Mocha in addition to the floor embellisher carpet in Mocha.

I was particularly taken with this great print from Paper Collective, which shows the face of a beautiful woman with a ponytail in the trendy shades.
