Welcome to Henriette's city oasis
Welcome to Henriette's city oasis

High above Zurich's main railway station, Henriette Rosa lives in a very aesthetically designed city apartment.
With a keen eye for beauty and a few clever furnishing tricks, the talented aesthete creates a warm living atmosphere that she constantly adapts to the here and now with skillful styling.

The special thing about the apartment: it is located in the middle of the vibrant city and yet is sublime and exceptionally quiet.

Henriette works as a creative store manager at the traditional company enSoie and shares with us her love of design, colors and special pieces with character.

Home tour with Henriette Rosa 🎬

At home above the rooftops of the city 🏠

Henriette and her family moved from Gockhausen to the new development right next to Zurich's main railway station over five years ago. The apartment is on the top floor, offering both urban vibrancy and a quiet oasis of retreat.

> On the terrace, I feel like I'm in a harbor. And when the trains pass by, I get a wanderlust," says Henriette.

Inside, however, you can barely hear the hustle and bustle around the station - a home with a view and atmosphere.

The apartment is spread over one level with an open-plan kitchen, dining room, living room and three bedrooms - two of which are occupied by their teenage sons. The two grown-up daughters also live in the house with their families. A spiral staircase leads up to the roof terrace - another highlight of this home.

Colors that connect 🩷 💛

Henriette and I share a love of colorful ceramics, flowers and the colors yellow and pink. These passions run through the whole apartment and give it character and warmth. One highlight: the large wave mirror in a lemon yellow frame by Gustaf Westman - one of the first pieces of its kind in Switzerland. It is joined by cushions with jacquard patterns by Kvadrat, a yellow vintage lampshade on the sideboard and lemons in a ceramic bowl. "

They're not just decoration, we drink a lot of lemon juice, says Henriette with a laugh.

The antique clock with its beautiful antique gold not only brings a lot of royalty and atmosphere into the living room, it is also the most emotional and historical object in your home.
> The pendulum is from my parents' antique store in Bern. I inherited it from my grandmother and it means a lot to me.

The antique table lamp with a bamboo base and fabric shade by Josef Frank is also important to her and brings a touch of bohemia and vacation feeling into her beautiful home.

Ceramics, dance and memories
Ceramics, dance and memories

Henriette is a passionate collector of ceramics and also curates them at enSoie. She is particularly fond of the hand-painted pieces from the 'Chaque Mois' collection by Creative Director Anna Meier. She presents her collection on a narrow wooden shelf on the wall that you see as soon as you enter the apartment and separates the kitchen from the living area. Above it hangs a picture that abstracts dance steps - a reminder of her time as a dancer in London.

Hospitality with style
Hospitality with style

Hospitality is a top priority at Henriette. The family often gathers around the large table made of beautifully grained bird's-eye maple, complemented by chairs by Hans J. Wegner. Henriette then likes to serve grazing platters - stylish and varied delicacies. Every occasion has its own style, with suitably selected tableware, textiles and floral arrangements.
And even when she is really busy, as she was during our visit, she finds time to conjure up something delicious and beautiful on the table.

Henriette manages to do a lot with very little because she invests in really good things that never lose their value or beauty.

Longevity as a principle
Longevity as a principle

Longevity runs through Henriette's entire home and is her philosophy of life. She focuses on quality that lasts - including the plants on the patio, which stay green even in winter and last for several years.
This lasting value was also important to her in her children's room: she opted for timeless design classics for her now grown-up children very early on, such as the Roth bed or the Alvar Aalto desk. This furniture is still in daily use today and is still highly valued.

Children should live with beautiful things and learn to treat them with care, she muses from one of her balconies with a far-reaching view.

The bench at the foot of the bed serves as a storage sofa - furnished with Leo cushions and cuddly furs. A subtle mix that only Henriette can master.

Roof terrace with far-reaching views
Roof terrace with far-reaching views

The roof terrace is a small universe of its own - urban and yet completely private.

> You can't see the terrace from the apartment - so I can design it completely independently, says Henriette.

Here she spends balmy evenings with friends, sees fairy lights glowing and hears life all around her. And yet she is completely at peace with herself.

I love the Gleismeer - it connects you with the world and makes you want to travel.

The covered cottage, which forms the transition from the apartment's spiral staircase to the roof terrace, is also very lovingly designed. Here you can enjoy a brunch or a small dinner even in the summer rain!
The incidence of light during the shoot set the simple little table with the great tablecloth and the iconic country chair in a particularly beautiful light.

What we learned from Henriette
What we learned from Henriette

Learn from the best is our motto. That's why we take away from our visit to Henriette:🌼

🌼 Flowers always work and turn a room into a home with style. Pro tip: add a little hand soap to the water and your colorful favorites will stay fresh longer.
🌼 Design classics are also worthwhile in the children's room
🌼 Longevity is key: from timeless, high-quality design classics to plants on the patio that will survive the cold season and bring joy the following year
🌼 Vichy check forever: the iconic pattern looks stylish, fresh - and just like En Soie. Pro tip: the iconic ceramic with the Vichy pattern in the color Clay is timeless, charming and wonderful to combine.
🌼 Yellow is more than good and also works if your surname is pink. 🌼 Travel tip: the Hotel Les Roches Rouges or the Tuba Club in Marseille - which is immortalized in her favourite picture

Thank you so much, chère Henriette, for your welcome, your fine eye for beauty and your openness and honesty.
We appreciate a lot and wish you all the very best in your city oasis and wherever you are enjoying life.
