As a regular follower of my home stories, you will no doubt be familiar with Anne tu Quoc from Freiburg. I reported on her transformation of a dusty house from the 80s into a wonderfully colorful and fresh family home and her beautiful leather accessories from Petiti Mai by Mooris and is an important address in the Swiss design scene.
For me, Anne is a wonderful inspiration for the creative redesign of things and furniture that are no longer modern at first glance and often gather dust in the aisles of brockis and the like.

I was particularly impressed by the makeover of a relic from the 80s, a wall unit - so I don't want to withhold it from you - from the perspective of Anne herself.

An old piece of furniture, a new life - my passion for upcycling

Oh, I just love breathing new life into an old piece of furniture.

> THERE'S HARDLY ANYTHING BETTER FOR ME THAN RUMMAGING THROUGH SECOND-HAND SHOPS AND LOOKING FOR TREASURES.

My inner eye goes into overdrive and I mentally sort everything into two categories: 'You can use this' or 'You can't do anything with this'. My brain loves this challenge - thinking about how I can turn something old into something unexpected.

Die Freude am Stöbern und Entdecken

Wandering through the aisles of second-hand stores is like a treasure hunt. I discover old pieces of furniture that often no longer shine at first glance, but in my head the ideas immediately run at full speed. A chair here, a chest of drawers there - it's like a jigsaw puzzle waiting to be put together. But as much as I work on every piece in my head, reality catches up with me: Unfortunately, I don't have an infinite amount of storage space to accommodate all these treasures that come my way.

A special find - the cabinet with the curves

>BUT THEN THERE ARE ALSO THOSE SPECIAL PIECES THAT I JUST CAN'T RESIST.

It was the same with this wardrobe. The beautiful curves of the doors - I knew immediately that I wouldn't find something like this every day. I had to have it, no matter what. Now I was faced with the task of smuggling it past my husband inconspicuously and storing it in the garage for the time being. I knew that the perfect project for this wardrobe would come to me at some point.

Die perfekte Gelegenheit – Ein kleines Mädchen braucht einen Schrank

And this moment came sooner than I thought. A friend asked me to do a little makeover for her daughter's room. First and foremost, they needed a small closet that their five-year-old daughter could put away and take out on her own. Perfect! My beautiful wardrobe with the round arches was perfect for this.

Full of enthusiasm, I set to work. First, I removed all the doors and plugged the holes for the shelves that were no longer needed.

Grind, grind, grind

Then it was a case of sanding, sanding, sanding. I then primed the piece of furniture in white before the little owner's wish came into play: **pink!

And anyone who knows me knows that I rarely have anything against pink. I opted for a really bright shade of pink and I love it! After I had applied two coats of the pink top coat, I added a protective layer as a finish. Of course, I also added my favorite round wooden handles to give the cabinet that certain something.
> THE RESULT? A DREAM IN PINK!

A surprising twist - The wardrobe and its history

The funny thing about this project was that I shared the process on Instagram and suddenly got a message from a follower. She had recognized the cupboard! It turned out that the piece of furniture belonged to her aunt before it ended up in a second-hand store. And the best thing about it: she had an original photo of the entire wall unit to which the wardrobe used to belong.

> HOW NICE IT IS WHEN A PIECE OF FURNITURE WITH SUCH A STORY LIVES ON!

Pink Power forever, meine Lieben.
