Swiss design has produced quite a few iconic chairs - but tables are becoming rarer. All the better when one of these few classics remains doubly true to itself: the Ess.Tee.Tisch by Jürg Bally. Designed back in 1951, it embodies the attitude to life of the post-war years - characterized by the desire for flexibility, mobility and ease in everyday life.
With a simple movement, the round table can be lowered from the classic dining table height to a cozy tea table or even a casual side table. The ingenious mechanism is concealed beneath the table top - the functional heart of this versatile piece of furniture.
Designer Daniel Hunziker has sensitively reworked the design and brought it to series maturity - in collaboration with the traditional manufacturer horgenglarus. To mark the 25th anniversary of the cult table, there is a fresh homage: mint, orange and bordeaux give the table a surprising, modern look in the new Special Edition. The table top made of colored linoleum on lacquered ash combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary style.
Whether as a dining table for four, a bistro table for cakes or a stylish side table for aperitifs - the T-6500 dining table remains a real all-rounder with history, soul and style.
