Carl Hansen & Søn OW150 Daybed Elegant simplicity and beautiful design The clean, classic OW150 daybed was designed by Ole Wanscher in 1963 with a single long upholstered cushion that appears to float above an angular, solid oak frame. However, it is supported by a delicate yet strong cotton webbing. Hand-stitched buttons create a simple square pattern that emphasizes the geometric shape of the daybed, while an optional bolster further enhances comfort and relaxation. The OW150 Daybed clearly shows how Wanscher was fascinated by classic furniture design and used it as a source of inspiration. He studied it wherever he went and incorporated the styles and elements into his work that he felt best combined functionality and aesthetics. Today, his modern classics continue to be revered for their attention to detail and his great respect for good materials. Designer Ole Wanscher Ole Wanscher made a significant contribution to the aesthetics and functionality of modern Danish design. After studying under Kaare Klint, he helped shape Danish furniture design as a designer and teacher when he took over Klint's professorship at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Wanscher's classic and modern designs made him popular. In 1958, the Danish newspaper Politiken wrote: "Owning a chair by Wanscher is an adventure every day, and it will still be so in a few hundred years, because that's how long it will last.
