To be honest, the word 'hammock' used to send shivers down my spine. A conventional, colorful hippie model in wild rainbow colors is pretty much my textile nightmare and would never have made it into my house or onto my balcony.
I was appeased and ultimately inspired by this model from specialist La Siesta: a real alternative to the classic pure cotton hammock. It is made of a weather-resistant material, a specially developed polypropylene fiber. It feels like cotton, yet is weatherproof and also dries really quickly if I forget to take the hammock off the balcony during the next summer thunderstorm.
The mat can stay outside all summer long, as the colors don't fade and the high-quality material is dirt-repellent. My personal highlight: the integrated pillow and the padded lying surface make this pole hammock so comfortable that I would almost prefer it to my bed! It also has the pleasant advantage that it doesn't get cool from underneath.
