The Duo lamp was designed by André Ricard for "executive desks", as not only was good focused light required for working on extensive documents, but also the fact that, in the face of visitors, the view of those sitting in the familiar chairs should not be obstructed by a large or conspicuous lampshade. Duo fulfills both purposes seamlessly. It illuminates at close range without interrupting the visual horizon and the luminous flux is adjustable through the independent rotation of the glass shades, which can either be opaque to focus the light on the work surface or translucent to provide more general illumination.
