Apex Table Lamp by Hay

The Danish manufacturer “Hay” is known for iconic design products that are functional, distinctive, aesthetically pleasing, and affordable. For Rolf Hay, the company’s namesake and founder, associating the brand with famous designers was never a top priority.

I particularly like that the team behind Hay enjoys taking on archetypal products and then reinterpreting them in their own skillful way—always with that certain something and a very modern twist. With “Apex,” the goal was to reinterpret the well-known banker’s lamp from the Art Deco era.

British designer John Tree has combined this archetypal reference with his contemporary, colorful sensibility to create a new, modern table lamp. The pleated steel shades form the silhouette of a pointed roofline, which serves as the inspiration for the lamp’s name, “Apex.”

It also creates a beautiful, graphic contrast to the chrome-plated base. The colorful, fully rotatable shade perfectly complements the round base and the angled arm.

This functional lamp with its atmospheric character can be perfectly tailored to your specific needs.

It fits on your desk like a glove, but also works great as a reading lamp on your nightstand.
