The famous Danish functionalist architect Vilhelm Lauritzen designed the VL 45 Radiohus pendant lamp at the end of the 1930s as part of his Gesamtkunstwerk, the headquarters of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (Radiohuset). The building was inaugurated in 1945, shortly after the end of the Second World War.
Lauritzen designed the pendant luminaire and all other luminaires for Radiohuset in collaboration with Louis Poulsen. The pendant light was originally called "The Office Lamp". It has a shiny, three-layer shade made of mouth-blown glass with details made of untreated brass.
The design is still characterized today by its excellent lighting properties and discreet luxury. The beautiful versions of the original opal white version in Pale Rose, Pale Yellow and Amber fit in well with today's interior design trends.
