Tools by Charles and Ray Eames

The elegant Eames Stools were designed by Ray Eames in the 1960s for the lobby of the Rockefeller Center in New York. Their design is reminiscent of chess pieces, but also evokes associations with African seating furniture. Charles and Ray Eames themselves affectionately called the massive stools "Perchers". They were also used in many different ways in their own home in Los Angeles - as seating as well as small storage tables, which is still part of their special charm today.

Made from solid wood, the only difference between the stools is the shape of the middle section. Vitra now produces the stools in European walnut and has added a light-colored chestnut version to the collection. At the same time, the surface finish has been revised: Instead of a glossy lacquer finish, a treatment with hard wax oil now ensures a matt, velvety feel and a particularly warm, natural look.

The unusual stools bring exciting contrasts to any setting - sometimes as an elegant side table, sometimes as a striking stand-alone piece of furniture. A true classic with history and cult potential that you will enjoy for a long time.
