Eclisse Table Lamp by Artemide -15 %

Eclisse, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1965, won the Compasso d’Oro award in 1967 and became a global icon of Italian design. Eclisse represents an avant-garde balance between form and function, design and utility. The concept is based on the ability to adjust the light intensity using the rotating inner shade, which “covers” the light source. Thanks to a fixed outer shell and a movable inner shade, the lamp can produce both direct and diffused light. Designed as a table lamp, it can also be mounted on the wall. The painted metal housing is available in white, red, orange, or yellow, as well as in a PVD finish produced using the innovative and sustainable process of metal vacuum coating (“sputtering”), which is available in black, brass, copper, or a mirror finish. From an environmental perspective, “sputtering” is by far the cleanest coating technology for the type of metal used, as it eliminates all emissions—particularly those of sulfuric acid and cyanides into the atmosphere—that result from electroplating processes. For the subsequent protective coating, a solid-film paint with a solvent content of up to 5% (compared to 75% in conventional products) is used. The process generates very little waste, and the resulting surface is exceptionally durable. Eclisse is part of the permanent collections of major design museums, including the MoMA in New York and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.
